Class One – Marvellous Inventions
Objective: Explore incredible inventions that have shaped our world.
Activity: Let’s dive into the fascinating world of inventions using paints and paper. We’ll explore aeroplanes, cars, film, teddy bears, football, tyres, the compass, metal, plastic, and computers through drawings and stories. Additionally, we’ll use old magazines and books for cut-out inspiration and to draw from.
Discussion: As we go, let’s chat about why these inventions are important and how they’ve changed our lives.

Class Two – drawing better ideas
Objective: Imagine ways to improve existing inventions such as aeroplanes, cars, film, teddy bears, football, tyres, the compass, metal, plastic, and computers.
Activity: Children will use their imaginations to draw enhancements to the inventions we’ve discussed, thinking about how they could make them even better through the use of drawing, painting and cut-outs.
The children must keep their work in their school bag for the next class.
Discussion: As we go, let’s share our improvement ideas and discuss how small changes can lead to big improvements.

Meet Miranda Veda Jennings, a professional freelance illustrator and artist with a talent for bringing art to life. With a degree in Illustration from UAL London College of Communications, Miranda combines her diverse skills in illustrative linework, 3D papercraft, print, and video editing to create unique and playful works. Her focus as a community artist is to unlock the creative potential in everyone, especially young minds. Since 2013, Miranda has balanced her artistic career with raising a family and recently started leading community art projects in 2023, collaborating with local Art Trusts and Councils. Miranda is passionate about making art accessible, inspiring young people, and using art as a therapeutic tool for mental health.
